The development of Linux as a key deployment platform is receiving close attention not just from IT professionals, but increasingly from enterprises, institutions, researchers and economists. It is clear that Linux lowers the IT entry barriers and hence provides a cost effective solution to all sectors.

In view of this, the Information Technology Services Department of the HKSAR, Hong Kong Productivity Council and Hong Kong Linux Industry Association organised a "Linux Business Adoption Campaign" in Hong Kong during September to December 2003. The campaign aims to provide an informative and educative message to varies sectors, by showing the best practices among their counterparts in deploying different business and/or education applications in their respective industries.
